Steinbrew and Cider Day
Steinbrew
Reminder that Steinbrew is only a few weeks away
When: Friday 15 March – Sunday 17 March 2023 (Brewing will take place on Saturday)
Where: Major Creek Riverside Camp http://www.findacamp.com.au/camp-site.php?camp=238
There is no booking for the campground. It is a large open space, and we have never had trouble getting enough room. It has a long drop toilet, but no other facilities. Nagambie is only 15 minutes away, and it's easy to get to if you forget something.
Who: Current and past members are all welcome, as well as Friends and Family.
What's Brewing: Not sure yet. If you are interested in brewing, let me know. I will bring my gear and am happy to cobrew with anyone who wants to give it a go.
Other Stuff: We usually do not plan communal meals, but plenty of sharing goes on. Certainly, no one goes hungry.
The jockey box will be full of ice, so please bring kegs to share. Other than that, you need basic camping gear.
A couple of vineyards are less than 10 minutes away from camp, and a group usually hits those around lunchtime on Saturday.

Cider Day
We will again join the Merri Mashers to smash through some apples. It’s an excellent chance for members of both clubs to socialise and get some fantastic juice for cider making. (Mark made a national championship cider from one of the previous events)
The key points:
- When: Saturday 13 April, start 9.30 am - expect to go into the early afternoon
- Where: Holger's farm, Diamond Creek
- How much: TBD but likely $10 / 20lt of freshly pressed apple juice (bring your container)
- Who: Any Melbourne Brewer member. We will limit it to 40L per member (expecting 300L in total for Melbourne Brewers)
Note: This is a working group. To participate, you must be available to help on the day.
We are also still looking at the possibility of getting some proper English cider apples from Seven Oaks in Red Hill https://sevenoakscider.com.au/
I will give an update on this as soon as we know anything.
Cheers
John
